Uzbekistan to join the International Association of Prosecutors
On December 5, 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov held a meeting with the Director General of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Haan Moral and the Executive Director of the IAP Yana Holst Hübner in The Hague.
The parties exchanged views on the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country, primarily in the judicial and law enforcement spheres, which already have a positive impact on the lives of citizens. In fact, the principle proclaimed by the President of Uzbekistan - “not people should serve the state, but the state to people”, is ensured.
During the meeting, new priority areas of activity of the prosecution authorities were noted.
According to Yana Holst Hübner, it is important for the parties to strengthen close cooperation both in the interests of Uzbekistan and the international community of prosecutors. Despite the fact that the Association was created only 23 years ago at the UN initiative, at present, 180 countries are members of the IAP, and it is a unique platform for establishing professional contacts between prosecution authorities in most countries of the world.
The IAP leadership confirmed the invitation for Uzbekistan to join the association, which is in the interest of expanding the practical international cooperation of our country in this area.
Following the meeting, the leaders of the IAP expressed their hope that a representative delegation of Uzbekistan would participate in the meeting of the member states in September 2019 in Argentina.
