Uzbekistan to build seven large reservoirs to ensure the stable irrigation of arid areas
In the coming years, Uzbekistan intends to build seven large reservoirs with total capacity of 45 million cubic meters, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“Due to the expansion of the reservoir network, special attention will be paid to the development of arid lands. For this purpose, “Parkent”, “Kizilsoy” and “Toshtepa” reservoirs will be created in Tashkent region, “Karaman” – in “Forish” district of Jizzakh region, “Guldara” and “Ayakchisoy” – in Kashkadaryo region, and “Bulungur” reservoir in Samarkand region with a total capacity of 45 million cubic meters,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared this in his congratulations message to the agricultural workers of Uzbekistan.
According to the President, next year it is planned to allocate nearly 1,7 trillion sums from the State budget to improve the ameliorative state of irrigated land, including $ 84 million from international financial institutions.
“In the coming two years, stable irrigation of 1,200 million hectares of land will be ensured by saving 1,700 million cubic meters of water in a year. Ameliorative condition of 600 thousand hectares of land will be improved,” the head of state said.
