Uzbekistan, India to cooperate in textile industry

The delegation of the Association “Uztuqimachiliksanoat”, at the invitation of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), took part in the international conference Global Textile Conclave 2018 in New Delhi, under which an agreement on the implementation of joint projects was signed.

CITI (Confederation of Indian Textile Industry) is one of the leading industry chambers of the Indian textile and clothing industry, representing the largest regional and industry associations and 17 large corporate members, thus covering the entire chain from cotton fiber growing to finished products. The total annual turnover of CITI members is about $ 30 billion.

The confederation works as an interface between the government of India and industry. It helps the government in providing political resources and at the same time supports the textile and clothing sector, protecting their interests as well as amending government policies.

It should be noted that the conference was devoted to increasing the profitability of textile and knitwear products, as well as ensuring sustainable industry growth.

During the event, an official ceremony of signing an agreement on cooperation between the Association “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” and CITI took place.

The agreement is aimed at developing scientific and innovative improvement through mutual cooperation, attracting potential Indian investments to the implementation of joint projects, as well as organizing specialized exhibitions and fashion shows on an annual basis in both Uzbekistan and India in order to expand investment and cooperative ties between textile industry enterprises.

Also, Indian textile companies offered to cooperate in the sale of Uzbek textiles to third-country markets, including placing orders for export to European countries.

According to the results of the meetings, relevant agreements were concluded, including 8 investment projects totaling $ 30.5 million, the press service of the “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” Association reports.
