Uzbek embassy confirms no citizens harmed in deadly New Delhi hotel fire

A devastating fire broke out at a hotel in South Delhi on June 3, resulting in the tragic deaths of 21 people. According to local official sources, at least 17 of the victims were foreign nationals, including citizens of Liberia, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Bangladesh.

In response to the tragedy, the Consular Section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi immediately contacted competent Indian authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident and verify whether any Uzbek nationals were among the casualties. Official data has since confirmed that no citizens of Uzbekistan were killed or injured in the blaze.

Following the incident, the Uzbek Embassy in India has urged citizens currently in the country or planning a trip there to exercise caution when choosing accommodation. Travelers are strongly advised to stay only in lodging facilities that possess the necessary permits and fire safety certificates. The embassy also emphasized the importance of checking for accessible emergency exits and functional fire protection equipment upon arrival.

In the event of an emergency, citizens are advised to immediately contact the Indian emergency services by dialing 112, or reach out directly to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi.
