Status of the State language is criticized at the Uzbek Senate
At the seventeenth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, the Chairman of the Senate Nigmatilla Yuldashev delivered a speech about the status of the state language and pointed out that the law is not being implemented in practice.
“We once again state that the law is always powerful with its implementation. However, ministries and agencies that are directly responsible for ensuring the implementation of the law, do not fully understand the essence of this truth,” he said.
According to the Chairman, we have failed to take into account the fact that the language people use have direct impact on the way they perceive the world and the ideology they develop.
“Introduction of the Uzbek alphabet based on the Latin script has not been fully completed on time,” Mr. Yuldashev said.
It should be noted that appendices of 154 legal acts, which are registered at the Ministry of Justice, have not been confirmed in the official language.
Also, 34 joint resolutions of ministries, state committees and agencies, adopted in 2018, are not in the official language.
