Uzbek Taekwondo athletes start the Grand Slam Taekwondo WTF tournament with victory
The Grand Slam Taekwondo WTF tournament kicked off in Wuxi, China, in which Uzbekistan is represented by two athletes, Nikita Rafalovich (-80 kg) and Dmitry Shokin (+80 kg).
Yesterday, within the framework of the first competition day, our taekwondo fighters performed successfully. In the weight category up to 80 kg, Nikita Rafalovich won the representative of Moldova Aaron Cook and reached the quarterfinal. Now he will have to fight with Russian Maxim Khramtsov to be qualified for the semifinal.
In the weight class of +80 kg, Dmitry Shokin competed with Mahama Cho of Britain and defeated him with a score of 2-0. In the quarterfinals Shokin will face the representative of Korea Kyo Do In.
In addition to rating points, winners and runners-up of the tournament will receive a cash prize. First place - $ 70,000, second place - $ 20,000, and third place - $ 5,000.
