Man caught trying to export $ 20,000 in cash by hiding them in his socks
In accordance with the report of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, citizen B. D. was suspected by the customs officers at the border customs post “Bekobod-Avto”.
While inspecting his personal belongings with the participation of attesting witnesses, it turned out that this citizen tried to export $ 20,000 out of Uzbekistan by hiding them in his socks.
A similar offense was also identified at the border customs post “Gishtkuprik”. A citizen from the neighboring state attempted to transfer 1 million Kazakhstani tenges out of our country. She hid the foreign currency in cash among her personal things.
Currently, on the above-mentioned facts of violations, customs investigations are going on.
It should be noted that individuals may export cash foreign currency outside the Republic of Uzbekistan without any permits within an amount equal to or not exceeding in equivalent to $ 5,000.
Export over the established amount is carried out:
- by residents – based on the permission of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- by non-residents – based on the passenger customs declaration filled out upon entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan. They may take the amount of cash in foreign currency outside the republic that is indicated not more than the amount of imported cash in foreign currency.
