Uzbekistan simplifies transit of goods through its territory

In compliance with the governmental decree dated December 15, individual parts of the rule on traffic transition through the territory of Uzbekistan, have been adjusted, Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to Norma.

According to the new changes, the period during which transit vehicles have to leave the country has been extended to 5 days (previously it was not more than 3 days) from the date of entry.

In addition, 47 new routes have been opened, intended for the transit movement of foreign road carriers through the territory of Uzbekistan. The largest number of them is available through the entrance from the Tajik (18) and Turkmen (12) borders.

It is also now permitted to transfer goods from a foreign car to national carriers under customs control at customs warehouses located outside established transit routes.

As a general rule, foreign citizens traveling in transit by car to Uzbekistan can only follow the roads open for international road transport.

However, an exception has been introduced now. From now onwards, this restriction does not apply to foreigners who transit through our country for non-commercial purposes by car (converted for overnight ground vehicles) indicating the route.

The process of issuing permits for the transit of special cargo and military contingents through Uzbekistan has been accelerated. The general term for making a decision on issuing or refusing to issue a permit should not exceed 20 days (previously - 30 days) from the day the application and all documents are received.

Accordingly, the time was reduced at certain stages of this procedure. Also, the renewal of the permit will be faster (allowed 1 time only).

Permission is now valid for 30 days sharp. The previous “no more than thirty days” principle implied the possibility of issuing a document for a shorter period. And in the absence of the Minister of Defense, permission can be signed by his first deputy.
