IWF disqualifies Ruslan Nuriddinov from heavy athletics for doping
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) carried out repeated anti-doping inspections against five weightlifting athletes who participated in the 2012 London Olympics and reported the results, the press service of the IWF (International Weightlifting Federation) said.
It is noted that Ruslan Nuriddinov, an Uzbek athlete, who took the fourth place in the weight category up to 105 kg, is among the committers of the illegal act. In addition, the champion of the 2012 Olympic Games Aleksei Torokhtin from Ukraine (105 kg), bronze medalist Valentin Khristov from Azerbaijan and winners of 8th and 14th places – Belarusian Nikolay Novichkov and Armenian Melin Daluzyan were also charged with the same offense.
The International Weightlifting Federation has temporarily banned these five athletes from doing sports.
Earlier, it was reported that weightlifting could be excluded from the Olympics due to a large number of heavyweight athletes’ doping consumptions during the last Olympic Games. This issue was discussed with the IOC’s Executive Committee in late November, but taking the final decision has been postponed.
For information, four years later, Ruslan Nuriddinov set a record in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and became a winner of the gold medal. He has also renewed the record of the tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
