On December 25, an extended session of the State Security Service (SSS) under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place, the presidential press service said.
The meeting was attended by heads of chambers of Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, members of the government, staff of the State Security Service, heads of ministries and departments, as well as public organizations.
In accordance with the Decree of the Head of State “On Measures to Improve the State Security System of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated March 14, 2018, the State Security Service of Uzbekistan was organized, its main tasks and activities were determined. On April 5 of this year, the Law “On the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted.
The meeting discussed the results of the reforms implemented in the system and the priorities for the future. Topical issues regarding the strengthening of the interaction of the State Security Service with other government agencies and departments in countering external and internal threats were considered.
It was noted that in the current conditions of increasing threats of international terrorism, extremism and cross-border crime in the far and near abroad, the issues of further strengthening the security of our country take particular importance.
Measures have been identified to increase the effectiveness of steps aimed at helping former members and supporters of religious extremist organizations to return back to normal life. The heads of the sectors on integrated social and economic development are entrusted with the solution of the social problems of these people, the issues of their employment and social inclusion.
The meeting also defined the tasks of preventing and countering corruption, which hinders the development of the country.
The head of state highlighted the issues of social security of our people. He spoke about important measures need to be taken to ensure security in the food, energy, medical and other fields, and specific actions in this direction were outlined.
On the issues discussed at the meeting, reports of the responsible persons were listened and relevant decisions were made.
The President got acquainted with the new building of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, its activities and material-technical base.
