“Determination of the minimum monthly wage and pension system should be revised” – President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his address to the parliament spoke about the need to revise the minimum wage and reform the pension system.
“It is necessary to revise the minimum wage system, abolish the procedure of connecting tax and other mandatory payments to the minimum wage. This is a completely wrong system,” the president said.
Recently, a presidential decree has been adopted. According to it, all pensioners, starting from January 1, 2019, will receive a full payment of pensions, even though they are still working.
In addition, in compliance with the presidential decree “On Additional Measures to Increase the Effectiveness of Pension System and Strengthen Social Support for Retirees” starting from January 1, 2019 the maximum amount for pension payments will increase from 8 to 10 times the minimum monthly wage.
According to the President, limitation on the maximum amount of retirement pay (10 times the minimum monthly wage) will be completely abolished at the next stage of the reforms.
