All persons registered in an apartment will be liable to pay for communal services
The President of Uzbekistan has signed a law aimed at solving the problem of debts for utilities, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
The Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the activities of certain state bodies” envisages a certain amendment to Article 133 of the Housing Code.
Now, according to the new order, all adult individuals who are constantly registered at the address of the housing facility will be liable to pay for the electricity, gas, water supply and wastewater (sewage) services rendered.
In fact, this means that if earlier the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement could only collect debts from the proprietor through the court, now it will be possible to do this with all those who are registered in this living space.
The BCE will be able to write off monthly public utility debts from the bank accounts of all adult tenants of an apartment or house that have debts. At the same time, the amount debited from one account may not exceed 2 MMW.
