The chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, on January 9 in Cairo met with the Grand Imam of al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, Islom.uz reports.
According to the source, adviser to the president of Uzbekistan Rustam Kosimov, the rector of the International Islamic Academy in Tashkent Shukhrat Yavkochev and leading scholars of al-Azhar also took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt in religious and educational spheres. They also exchanged views on the ongoing reforms in our country in these fields.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a roadmap of cooperation between al-Azhar and religious centers in Uzbekistan.
