Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Uzbekistan
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova said that she cannot meet next week in Moscow with her Ukrainian counterpart, Lyudmila Denisova, since she is leaving for a business trip to Uzbekistan.
Denisova said on Thursday that next week she plans to visit Moscow to meet with the leadership of the FSB and the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation to discuss issues relating to Ukrainian sailors detained by Russian border guards. She noted that she communicates daily with Moskalkova by phone.
“I’ve learned about Lyudmila Denisova’s plans to come to Moscow and meet with me from the media today,” said Moskalkova to RIA Novosti.
“I have a planned trip to Uzbekistan next week, where there are also many human rights issues for discussion and resolution. Therefore, I will be visiting the Central Asian republic the coming week” she noted.
