On September 20, 2018, at a meeting dedicated to the development of physical culture and sports, the President of Uzbekistan criticized the backlog of construction plans carried out in the regions at the expense of the Fund for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports and set tasks to streamline work in this area.
In order to timely form the sponsorship of the Fund for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports, ensure the quality of construction work and timely commission sports facilities, as well as increase the responsibility of khokimiyats in this matter, the government decree of January 15, 2019 made changes and additions to the Law “On the organization of activities of the Fund for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports under the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
In accordance with the decree, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In turn, the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokims of the regions and the city of Tashkent were appointed chairmen of territorial public councils, their personal responsibility for the construction and installation work on sports facilities and their timely commissioning was established.
Also, it is envisaged that at the expense of the Fund trips of Fund specialists, specialists of design and construction organizations to foreign countries to study best practices and introduce world experience in designing and building sports facilities in the regions, as well as inviting foreign specialists to exchange experience will be organized.
