Universities to determine student enrollment quotas themselves
In Uzbekistan, in the new academic year, it is planned to introduce an order in which universities will independently determine quotas for admitting students, Kun.uz correspondent reports with reference to the presidential decree.
President Mirziyoyev instructed the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Economy and Industry to approve the procedure for self-determination of student enrollment quotas by higher educational institutions. Introduction of this procedure is envisaged in the academic year 2019/2020.
In addition, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education should make proposals on the elimination of artificial obstacles in confirming the equivalence of foreign diplomas, optimizing the process of their recognition. At the same time, it should be recalled that recently the head of state, by his decree, has already simplified the procedure for recognizing and nostrifying diplomas of foreign universities.
Another significant innovation is that from the academic year 2019/2020, a gradual process of introducing the procedure for accepting applicants' documents to universities through public service centers should begin. This will seriously simplify the process, as applicants from different regions will not have to, for example, come to Tashkent to submit documents.
