Cutting trees in Uzbekistan to be executed on a payment basis

The Uzbek government approved a regulation on the procedure for planting, growing and cutting trees and bushes on the lands that are not protected by the State Forest Fund. This was reported by the Legal Information channel of the Ministry of Justice.

According to the regulation, planting trees and bushes is carried out depending on their species, flexibility on climatic conditions, closeness of underground waters, degree of salinity and availability of irrigation system.

It is planned to develop a methodological manual for registering trees on the lands that are not preserved by the State Forest Fund by March 2019 and all those trees will be registered by June 2019.

Registration of trees is conducted once every 5 years. To conduct the registration, local authorities make decisions in each region. During recording, if trees are identified as over 100 years old, a separate register will be issued to protect them as natural reserves.

Trees and bushes are cut for sanitary purposes in the following cases:

• If they are dried out;
• If they cover yards, streets and other public places as a result of disorganized shape;
• If they are infected;
• If they hinder the operation of various infrastructures;
• If they endanger the lives, health and property of people as a result of wind, snow, or any other natural processes.

Cutting down trees and bushes, including for sanitary purposes, shall be carried out by the local organizations specialized in such services.

It should be noted that cutting trees and bushes by legal entities and individuals, including business entities, is subject to the following payments (the chart is enclosed in Uzbek):
