Branch of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute to open in Tashkent this year

Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) will open its branch in Tashkent this year, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing the draft decree of the head of state.
Training at the branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute will be carried out in Russian according to the curriculum and programs approved in the Russian Federation. Admission of students is scheduled to begin with the 2019/2020 school year.
Graduates of the university will be issued a diploma of the Russian sample, which is recognized as a document on higher education in Uzbekistan. At the same time, graduates who studied on the basis of state grants will be subject to work for at least five years in organizations and enterprises of the republic's energy sector.
Trainings will be carried out in two directions:
- Electric power and electrical engineering
- Thermal power and thermal engineering
The educational institution will be located on the basis of buildings and structures of the Tashkent Banking College in Almazar district.
Moscow Power Engineering Institute is one of the largest institutions of its kind, and is one of the leading technical universities in the world in the area of power engineering, electronics and IT. It is located in Moscow, Russia, and was founded in 1930. In Russian Federation the education in universities is available in Russian medium only. Therefore, before the main education courses would start, the foreign applicants to university courses should pass the Preliminary course for training in Russian language, followed by the State Test in Russian language.
There are 70 departments in the MPEI, 550 educational laboratories for students, more than 100 research laboratories and the Center for High Technologies. More than 15 thousand students and 500 graduate students study at MPEI, including 950 foreign students from 65 countries.
