New CEO of Beeline Uzbekistan is appointed

VEON Ltd. announced the appointment of Sergey Afonin to the position of CEO of Beeline Uzbekistan from March 1, 2019.

Afonin joined the VEON Group in 2016 as Director of the South Regional Branch of Beeline Russia, where he successfully implemented a market strategy, which resulted in an increase in market share of Beeline.

Prior to that, he worked as a commercial director at a large FMCG company in Russia.

“Sergey has extensive experience in various industries, including telecommunications, and we highly appreciate his managerial skills and leadership qualities shown during three years of work at VEON. I am confident that Sergey’s promotion will further strengthen our position in Uzbekistan, including the growth of digital services, as well as strengthen corporate ethics and business transparency,” said Ursula Burns, chairman and CEO of VEON Group.

Sergey Afonin replaces Dmitry Shukov, who decided to leave the post of the general director of Beeline Uzbekistan after three years of service.
