Famous model of Uzbek origin detained then released at Tashkent International Airport
On January 23, upon arrival at the airport of the capital of Uzbekistan, a top model of Uzbek origin Nadya Nepomnyashchaya was detained. Five hours after the arrest, she was released, the media reported.
At the Tashkent International Airport, Nepomnyashchaya was informed that a criminal case was initiated against her for illegally crossing the state border. Top model Nadya Nepomnyaschaya reported her relatives on her detention at the airport in Tashkent and the initiation of a criminal case against her.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, she was detained on January 23 of this year and a criminal case was instituted against her under Article 223 (illegal departure abroad or illegal entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan) of the Criminal Code. The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that Nadya Nepomnyashchaya did not issue the appropriate permit sticker on the passport and left for England on August 9, 2018 through Russia.
The 29-year-old native of Tashkent, Nadia Nepomnyaschaya, has been living in London for the last four years on the basis of a work visa. Prior to that, she worked as a model in the United States for four years. Last time she came to Uzbekistan four years ago.
She is the bride of a famous Hollywood producer Michael Gracey. In December 2017, Nepomnyaschaya appeared with Gracey at the presentation of his film “The Greatest Showman”, which took place in Sydney.
According to Article 223 of the Criminal Code, traveling abroad, entering the Republic of Uzbekistan or crossing the border in violation of the established procedure is punished with a fine of two hundred to four hundred times the minimum wage or restriction of liberty from three to five years or imprisonment from three to five years.
