Uzbekistan begins exportation of migrants in difficult situations from St. Petersburg

The government of Uzbekistan has begun exporting migrants in difficult situations from St. Petersburg, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

“Uzbekistan continues the work to return citizens from Russia to their homeland, who find themselves in a difficult situation, at the expense of the Fund for support and protection of the rights and interests of citizens engaged in labor activities abroad,” the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations said.

In addition to Moscow, exportation of temporary detainees has begun in St. Petersburg. In total, 320 people have been returned to date. Doctors and staff of the Ministry of Labor are working with each of them.

It should be reminded that earlier the ministry announced plans to return from Russia about 1,500 Uzbeks living in temporary detention centers.

The Fund for support and protection of the rights and interests of citizens engaged in labor activities abroad was established last July by a presidential decree, which is currently dealing with the export of migrants at its expense.

One of its main tasks is to provide legal and social protection, as well as material assistance to citizens who have fallen into difficult financial situations and are left without documents of identification and means of subsistence during the period of working abroad.
