Italian Danieli becomes the main supplier of equipment for TMP
The Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMP) will receive a full range of basic equipment from the world's largest supplier of the metalworking industry – the Italian company Danieli. A number of leading Russian companies have also signed contracts for supplying technological equipment, the press service of the company reported.
“The project is financed by a foreign investor, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and loan funds of the JSC “RusEximBank”. Credit lines pass through domestic financial institutions of “Asaka” and “Uzsanoatkurilishbank”. These funds will be allocated under the insurance coverage of the Russian Agency EXIAR for Insurance,” technical director of the company Valery Osin said.
According to him, there are certain obligations in cooperation with the Russian financial institution, the presence of the so-called Russian content – mandatory volume of supplies of equipment produced in Russia. Therefore, part of the specialized equipment for auxiliary production will be from Russia.
Leaders of the Russian market, such as “Uralkran”, “Energoavangard”, “Veza”, “Promtreydimpeks”, “South Ural Weight Plant” and “Permglavsnab” are among the contractors.
“The main equipment supplier is one of the three world market leaders in the production of metallurgical equipment – Italian manufacturer Danieli & C. Officine Mecchaniche S.p.A. We held talks and meetings with all three suppliers, since at a certain stage we were inclined to believe that the main units would be from different manufacturers. But in the end, we came to a conclusion that the whole complex of the main equipment will be supplied by one company,” Osin said.
It should be recalled that total cost of the project exceeds €286 million. The group of companies “MetProm” was chosen as the general contractor for construction of the TMP. Today, it is one of the leading designing-construction organizations in the metallurgical industry in Russia. The launch of the plant is scheduled for December 2019.
After reaching full capacity, the company will produce 500,000 tons of cold-rolled metal per year. At the same time, 20% of products are planned to be exported to Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
The construction project of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant is managed by a foreign company SFI Management Group. It also manages the state’s share in other flagships of Uzbekistan’s industry – the Almalyk MMC and the JSC Uzmetkombinat.
