Uzbekistan joins a new international treaty
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On joining of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Performances and Phonograms Treaty (Geneva, December 20, 1996)”.
The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on November 30, 2018 and approved by the Senate on December 13, 2018.
According to the document, Uzbekistan has joined the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (Geneva, December 20, 1996).
This international agreement guarantees that Uzbekistan ensures the strict and unconditional execution of international requirements on copyright and related rights. It is also aimed at protecting the rights of literary and artistic authors, performers and reproduction of their phonograms.
