Reportedly, a specialist in Uzbek football Samvel Babayan will work at the FC Tashkent Lokomotiv.
According to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways, Babayan was appointed as a consultant to Mansur Radjapov, the president of the football club "Lokomotiv".
The following tasks are entrusted to him:
1. Raising and upgrading club infrastructure;
2. Development and modernization of the "Lokomotiv" football school of children and youth;
3. Further forming the material-technical basis of the club and implementation of all necessary measures.
Samvel Babayan is widely known to the public for his role in the FC Pakhtakor and Uzbekistan's national team. In 2014, he was a chief coach of the club, he was also announced as the best coach of Uzbekistan in 2014-2015. In 2017, the national team under his supervision was unable to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
In January 2018, the Uzbek Football Association dismissed Samvel Babayan from football for his fraudulent relationship with Pakhtakor players. After that, he worked as a coach and technical director at the Latvian club Spartak.
It should be noted that the Uzbek Football Association has not announced any decision on the removal of Babayan's disqualification.
