Automobile manufacturers will become VAT payers – Deputy Finance Minister
Starting from January 1, 2020, car makers in Uzbekistan will also pay value added tax, Deputy Finance Minister Dilshod Sultonov said.
“The automobile industry is almost ready. From January 1, 2020, or even earlier, they will become VAT payers,” Mr. Sultonov noted.
Thus, GM Uzbekistan and its spare parts manufacturers are deprived of tax privileges. Since 2008, the company has been exempt from all taxes on motor vehicle production and compulsory payments of road fund in Uzbekistan. To date, the plant has been exempt from VAT.
Earlier, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Committee Mubin Mirzayev told Kun.uz that the number of VAT payers is growing. He also said that agricultural producers could also be VAT taxpayers in accordance with the new tax policy. This idea was also confirmed by Dilshod Sultonov previously.
