Criminal liability to be introduced for illegal use of drones
On February 28, during the XVIII plenary session of the Senate, the law was considered which provides amendments and addenda to three legislative documents – the current Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedural Code and the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Kun.uz correspondent reports about it.
“The law envisages bringing into criminal liability for illegal use of modern equipment on the country's airspace. In accordance with the new norm, illegally importing, transmitting, receiving, storing or using drones will result in criminal responsibility,” senator Islomiddin Abrorov said.
He stressed that the need to determine such procedure is primarily due to the existence of threat to the life and health in the community and committing unlawful actions against the state.
The law consists of 5 codes. The inquiry and preliminary investigation on commitment of crimes envisaged by the new articles of the Criminal Code, that is, Article 244 – illegal import, transfer, purchase, storage or use of drones, and also Article 248-1 – on the cases of violating the order of storage and use of drones, shall be entrusted to the internal affairs bodies. In addition, smuggling of drones envisaged by the first part of Article 244-4 of the Criminal Code is related to infringement of the customs law – in this case, it is investigated by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its territorial subdivisions.
“Implementation of these norms will help to carry out effective investigation and qualitative inquiry,” the senator added.
