Tuition fees at universities to increase from March 1
Starting from spring semester, minimum tuition fee amount at universities in Uzbekistan is set at 9,122,850 soums, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
It should be recalled that in October 2018, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on increasing the wages of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations from November 1, as well as pensions, stipends and benefits by an average of 10%.
According to the document, minimum amounts were established as:

• pensions by age and allowances for people with disabilities from childhood – 396,500 soums per month;
• benefits for elderly and disabled citizens who do not have the necessary work experience – 243,300 soums per month.
At the same time, according to the government document, from this academic year, the tuition fee amount at higher educational institutions is calculated on the basis of the size of minimum monthly wage.
It was noted that tuitions will increase each time, when the minimum monthly wage is raised.
Currently, the cheapest contract is 45 minimum monthly wages – 8 million 293 thousand 500 soums.
From the second semester, that is, from March 1 of the current year, the minimum tuition fee amount at universities will be 9,122,850 soums.
