World Bank announces gender equality rate in Uzbekistan
There are only six countries in the world, namely Belgium, Denmark, France, Latvia, Luxemburg and Sweden, that achieved gender equality, the World Bank's “Women, Business and the Law-2019” study reports.
Austria, Canada, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom have also shown spectacular results gaining 97.5 points out of 100 each. The countries with worst indicators are Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Iran and Qatar, who scored less than 32.
Uzbekistan gained 70.6 points. Less than Guatemala and Congo. Among the former USSR countries, Uzbekistan is ranked the last (Lithuania scored 93.7, Tajikistan - 81.8, Georgia - 79.3, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Belarus - 78.7, Kyrgyzstan - 76.8, Kazakhstan and Armenia - 75.6, Russia - 73.1).
Overall, 187 countries are registered in the report.
The “Women, Business and the Law” index is based on statistically significant associations with outcomes related to women’s economic empowerment, in particular with women’s labor force participation as well as with other outcomes of interest.
