Umid Akhmadjonov becomes vice president of the Olympic Council of Asia

President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Umid Akhmadjonov has been elected vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia. This was reported by the press service of the NOC.

In Thailand, on March 2, Bangkok city hosted the 38th General Assembly of the Asian Olympic Council. The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Asian Olympic Council was held on the first day.

“During the General Assembly, members of the organization, the Executive Committee and the Permanent Commission were elected for 2019-2022. It is important for us that the candidacy of Umid Akhmadjonov – the President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan in the Central Asian region was nominated as vice president of the Olympic Council of Asia. The participants unanimously supported the candidacy of Umid Akhmadjonov and he became a vice president of the Olympic Council of Asia,” the report said.

It should be reminded that Umid Akhmadjonov is also a president of the Central Asian Football Association.

“Thank you for your trust and voting me. This confidence gives me pride, at the same time, it is a great responsibility. In this post, I represent the interests of not only Uzbekistan, but also the entire Central Asian region. My main goal is to be one of the members of the IOC Executive Committee. I will try my best to be a part of the International Olympic Committee,” Umid Akhmadjonov said.
