Uzbekistan crowned world champion in hand-to-hand combat in Turkey
Uzbekistan’s national hand-to-hand combat team claimed first place at the World Championship held in Bursa, Turkey, from May 29 to June 3. The athletes brought home a total of 14 medals, including 8 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze.
In addition to their impressive performance in Turkey, Uzbek athletes also excelled at the World Sports Games in Loutraki, Greece, held from June 3 to 8. There, they secured 13 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal in hand-to-hand combat competitions.
In both international events, Uzbekistan ranked first in the overall team standings, according to the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
A ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Sports to honor the athletes and coaches for their outstanding achievements. Officials congratulated them on their success and expressed hopes for even greater victories in the future.
In recognition of their results, the athletes and coaches were awarded early military ranks, commemorative badges, and souvenir gifts in a formal presentation.
