Russian Minister of Education invites Uzbekistan to take part in WorldSkills Competition in Kazan
Botirjon Asadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia and Alisher Umarov, First Deputy Minister of Public Education, met in Moscow with the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva, UzA reported.
At the meeting, the current state of relations in the educational sphere and prospects for their further development were discussed.
The sides considered the issue of signing an Agreement of Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education of Russia, the project of which was initiated by the Uzbek side.
Russian Minister positively responded to the initiative of Uzbekistan on expanding cooperation and expressed the readiness of her country to sign the indicated document after passing the internal approval procedures.
Olga Vasilyeva highly appreciated the Uzbek students’ level of knowledge, who have repeatedly become winners of international and local competitions in the Russian language.
Furthermore, the parties also considered the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of assessing the educational achievements of students. The Russian partners expressed their readiness to provide active advisory support in this matter, including conducting international comparative studies PISA, TIMSS, TALIS in Uzbekistan. In particular, negotiations are underway to include Uzbekistan in the Russia Education Aid for Development (READ) program.
Vasilyeva spoke about the plans of the Ministry of Education to assist Uzbekistan in training and retraining teachers in the Russian language in educational institutions of Russia.
The Uzbek side forwarded a proposal to open a branch in Tashkent of one of the Russian universities engaged in training specialists in the exact sciences.
In her part, the head of the Russian department invited representatives of Uzbekistan to take part in the Moscow International Salon of Education, which will be held on April 10-13, 2019, and WorldSkills Competition in Kazan on August 22-27, 2019.
