The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health said information about the case has been circulating on social media and in some media outlets.

The situation is being monitored through official sources from Russia’s competent authorities and the World Health Organization, the committee said.

Authorities are checking whether the suspected disease has been confirmed by laboratory testing, as well as the possible source and routes of transmission. They are also establishing the patient’s movements and identifying people who may have been in contact with the individual.

The committee said the disease has not been named in the information released so far, and there has been no confirmation that the diagnosis was established through laboratory testing.

Uzbekistan has nevertheless increased the preparedness of relevant services to prevent the introduction and spread of highly dangerous infectious diseases within the country.

Authorities urged the public not to rely on unverified reports and to follow updates only through official sources.

The committee said additional information would be provided to the public through established channels if the epidemiological situation changes.
