President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Ministry of Transport to submit proposals on providing individual entrepreneurs with the right to provide taxi services within a month.
As noted in the presidential decree, proposals to provide IP the right to carry out activities on transporting passengers on cars with the introduction of information-communication technologies to simplify and minimize licensing procedures are tasked to develop together with the State Tax Committee.
At present, only legal entities can engage in this activity.
The plans to allow individuals to provide taxi services upon registration as an individual entrepreneur in 2017 were reported by the Finance Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov.
Today, in Tashkent alone, 5,400 taxis operate on a legal basis. Considering the fact that the population of Tashkent city is 2,5 million people, for every thousand people, there are 2,1 legal taxis respectively.
For comparison, this figure in Paris is 7,7 taxis per thousand people, in New York - 6,7, Moscow - 4,5, in London - 9,9 and in Delhi - 3,2. Thus, there is a great shortage of legal taxis in the capital city.
