The US Citizenship and Immigrations Services are preparing to close all their offices in 21 countries, TASS reports referring to a statement of The Washington Post.

Functions such as issuing family visas, child adopting and processing requests for US citizenship will be redistributed among embassies and consulates of the United States in respective countries.

The Immigration and Citizenship Service explained that the service, with the consent of the US State Department, will close its offices in the next few months in order to “try to maximize depleting resources of the department”.

“I believe that in this way we will more successfully apply our funds to solve the queue problems in the US bureau and better manage the State Department’s resources in places,” director of the service Francis Cissna said.

He warned that implementation of the decision is associated with “occurrence of complications and confusion” among employees.

It should be recalled, at the beginning of February, the US Immigration and Citizenship Service informed about the decision to close its office in Moscow on March 29. The bureau in Athens will take over issues related to immigration from the RF, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
