It should be recalled that on March 5, Gulnara Karimova's daughter Iman Karimova published information about abduction of her mother. She wrote on her Instagram page that her mother had been abducted from her own apartment.
Then the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that Gulnara Karimova was transferred to a colony because of violations of the conditions of serving the sentence.
“As G. Karimova intentionally violated the order and terms of serving the penalty, in accordance with the criminal-executive legislation, based on the proposal of the Probation Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on March 5, 2019, it was determined by the Yashnabod district criminal court that the remaining sentence term imposed on her was replaced by a prison sentence in a colony of general regime,” the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
According to the PG Office, Karimova had to comply with a number of generally established restrictions by law, including not leaving the home, not using communication tools and the Internet, as well as compensating for the damage. In the course of serving the sentence, the daughter of the first president of Uzbekistan systematically violated the obligations established by the court.
In March, some media reported that Gulnara Karimova had committed suicide as she was unable to bear the abuse. The press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office refuted this message and stated that there was no suicide.
“There was no suicide or attempted suicide. Gulnara Karimova is serving her sentence in the prescribed manner,” the department’s press service said.
