President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Zelensky on victory in elections
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky on his victory in Ukraine’s presidential elections, the press service of the MFA said on Wednesday.
“I am convinced that Uzbek-Ukrainian relations based on the principles of traditional friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation and consideration of each other’s interests will continue to consistently develop and strengthen for the benefit of our countries and peoples,” the message of the head of state reads.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished Volodymyr Zelensky good health, well-being and success in government activities, and the friendly Ukrainian people - peace and prosperity.
It should be noted that the second round of Ukraine’s presidential elections was held on Sunday, April 21.
Zelensky, a comedian who played Ukraine’s president on a TV show called “Servant of the People,” won the election by a landslide, taking more than 73 percent of the vote, according to reports.
More than 13.5 million people voted for Zelensky, and over 4.5 million for Poroshenko.
Experts called the victory of Zelensky a new precedent in the history of the country, since not one of the presidential candidates had such great confidence among citizens.
