Mutual trade between Russia and Uzbekistan over the past two years has increased by 20% - this is one of the highest indicators among the CIS countries. This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin at the XX meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Russian-Uzbek relations have only gained momentum since the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Moscow, which took place two years ago.

“This is clearly seen in the figures of mutual trade - the growth here is 20%. As I said, this is one of the highest rates among all CIS countries,” said Oreshkin.

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development said that the intergovernmental commission had worked out a number of issues in the field of cooperation between the two countries, the decisions on which will be presented to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in a month. “This is a roadmap in the field of agriculture, protocols between our customs authorities - we could not solve this issue for a long time, and last year all the necessary agreements were reached, now we are on the finalizing stage,” he said.

Oreshkin also spoke about the meeting of Prime Ministers Dmitry Medvedev and Abdulla Aripov, which is scheduled for the end of May this year.

“We have a joint commission at the level of prime ministers. I should note that Russia has such a format of cooperation with only a few countries of the world. The meeting of prime ministers is scheduled for the end of May,” Oreshkin stated.
