Toll road connecting Andijan and Tashkent may appear
A toll road will appear between Tashkent and Andijan, follows from the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated April 29.
The construction of a toll road was included in the list of projects that need to be finalized by the end of this year.
According to the preliminary plan, in June, an agreement will be concluded with the World Bank and by January 2020, necessary documentation works will be carried out. In April 2020, the approval of the project concept is planned, and in June next year, a request for participation in the preliminary selection will be made public.
The cost of the project is still being specified.
It should be recalled that in early March, a bill on toll roads was published. It described in detail why Uzbekistan needs toll roads, how payment will be made, who can be the owner, and much more.
The draft document emphasized that toll roads will be built only if there is an alternative free road.
As for the permitted speed of movement on toll roads, the exact figures are not yet stated, but it was reported that the payment is made if the condition of increased quality of travel is met, ensuring high speed of traffic through the whole route.
