Shavkat Mirziyoyev approves criminal liability for illegal import and storage of UAVs

On May 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On amendments and addenda to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility”, the Ministry of Justice said.

Thus, the Criminal Code introduced a penalty of imprisonment for up to three years for illegal import, sale, purchase, storage or use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The same actions committed under aggravating circumstances shall be punished with imprisonment from eight to ten years.

In addition, violation of the procedure for the storage and use of unmanned aerial vehicles also entails criminal liability.

These changes are put into effect after six months.

It should be recalled that the relevant changes in legislation were approved by the Senate at the 18th plenary meeting in February of this year.
