The information that the government of the Kyrgyz Republic has lost the case on boarding houses to the Uzbek side at the court of arbitration is far from reality. This was reported by the Information Support Department of the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

“We would like to report followings on the information disseminated on various news agencies and social networks that the Kyrgyz government has been “defeated” at the international court of arbitration by the Uzbek side on the issues of boarding houses in the Issyk-Kul province:

Today, the case is being reviewed by the International Arbitration Court.

It should be noted that while considering such claims, first of all the competency of the international arbitration to review the claim will be sorted out. Then the process begins.

In the beginning of May 2019, the first phase ended, where it was decided that international arbitration would have jurisdiction over the matter. In this regard, the information that the Kyrgyz government has lost the case at an international arbitration court is not true.

Today, the government is implementing a wide range of measures, the work on establishing the evidence and studying the arguments of claimants is continuing,” the Kyrgyz government department said.

On April 4, 2016, former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariyev signed a decree to transfer Uzbekistan-owned “Dilorom”, “Rokhat”, “Oltin kum” and “Buston” boarding houses in Issyk-Kul to the balance of Kyrgyzstan.

In December 2017, the Kyrgyz parliament ratified the agreement with Tashkent on returning the boarding houses to Uzbekistan. At the time, the Prime Minister Sapar Isakov signed a decree to return four boarding houses to Uzbekistan.
