Ministry of Health: 23 children were poisoned at a kindergarten in Syrdarya drinking contaminated water
In the Bayaut district of the Syrdarya region, 23 pupils, a teacher and a nurse were poisoned at the preschool educational institution No.21.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, on June 18-19, 23 pupils, a teacher and a nurse of preschool educational institution No.21 in the Bayaut district of the Syrdarya region were admitted to the department of infectious diseases with fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. They were diagnosed with “acute intestinal disease, foodborne toxic-infection”.
“After the initial examination, it is assumed that the disease arose due to contaminated water at the institution. On June 17, there was no supply of pure drinking water, the children drank non-boiled water and ate apricots growing in the garden,” the Ministry of Health said.
Currently, research and laboratory studies are underway. Patients are in a state of moderate and mild severity, they are provided with all the necessary medical care.
Experts from the scientific-research institute of epidemiology, microbiology and infectious diseases, the scientific-research Institute of virology and the republican center of state sanitary-epidemiological surveillance of the Ministry of Health study the incident, coordinate ongoing medical work, take preventive and anti-epidemiological measures.
It was stressed that the situation is under the control of the Health Ministry.
