Uzbekistan, Afghanistan agree to jointly promote export products
On July 16, the official visit of the Afghan delegation to Uzbekistan, including ministries, departments and private sector representatives was continued in Tashkent within the framework of the business program.
In the “Uzexpocenter” building, an industrial exhibition of national producers was held. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan Ajmal Ahmadi, who noted a positive trend in strengthening economic cooperation and increasing the scale of collaboration between the two countries.
During the event, participants had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the range of products manufactured by Uzbek and Afghan manufacturers, explore the potential for increasing the trade turnover, highlight promising areas for industrial cooperation, aiming to form new inter-country value chains and focusing on promising export markets.
As part of the program, the second round of the Uzbek-Afghan private-government Dialogue took place, in which more than 30 heads of ministries, departments and trade-industrial associations of both countries took part. During the discussion, topical issues of investment and trade cooperation, infrastructure construction, transport and logistics, customs regulation, certification and standardization of goods were raised.
Following the event, a protocol was signed fixing the agreements reached on expanding investment cooperation, mutual support in promoting export-oriented products in common markets, and joint activities to optimize transport costs for the transit of goods through the territory of both countries.
