Tourist center to be built in Samarkand
In order to further develop the tourism potential of the Samarkand region, it is planned to build a tourist center on the territory of the rowing canal in the Samarkand region.
On July 26, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the rowing canal and got acquainted with the project. Thus, it is planned to allocate 360 hectares of land for the complex. A congress center, five, four, three-star hotels, alleys, pools, artificial islands, restaurants and other objects are planned to be built on 80 hectares.

“Where do local people and compatriots that come from other regions rest? There is no such destination yet. Foreign tourists come mainly for pilgrimage and exploring historical monuments. Therefore, it is necessary to create conditions for recreational tourism, a place where our people, tourists could relax in their leisure time. However, the complex should be in harmony with the pilgrim tourism. This will be another growth point for the economy of Samarkand,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The number of tourists visiting Samarkand has doubled compared with last year. In the next two years, it is planned to bring the number of foreign tourists to Samarkand up to 2 million, and throughout the country – up to 10 million.
