Draft law: Advertising will be in the state language in the territory of Uzbekistan
On the portal of discussing normative-legal acts, the draft law “On introducing amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was published.
According to the document, Article 5 (language of advertising) of the Law No.723-I “On advertisement”, adopted in December 25, 1998 is amended as follows:
“Advertisements on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan are disseminated in the state language. At the request of the advertiser, it is permitted to distribute the advertisement in other languages simultaneously with the state language. While advertising, terms from foreign languages, which have no analogues in the state language, may be used. Trademarks (service marks) registered in the prescribed manner, logotypes can be expressed in the language of their original”.
In addition, Part 2, 3 of Article 3 of the Law No.51 of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On company names” of September 18, 2006 is amended as follows:
“A legal entity may have a company name either in the state language or in the foreign language. Also, the company may have an abbreviated name too.
Legal entity’s name should be specified in its organizational-legal form that is described in the state language”.
