On August 7, the extradition agreement of October 17, 2016 and the agreement on legal assistance in civil, family and criminal matters of December 5, 2017, concluded between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, entered into force.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the extradition agreement regulates the conditions for the repatriation of persons suspected or accused of committing a crime, the requirements for documents containing a request for deportation of these persons and the conditions and terms of a temporary arrest until an official request for extradition is sent.

The document serves as a legal basis for effective cooperation in the field of combating crime, and also helps to ensure the principle of inevitability of punishment.

In accordance with the provisions of the agreement on legal assistance in civil, family and criminal matters, citizens and stateless persons permanently residing in the territory of one state enjoy the same legal protection in respect of their personal and property rights as their own citizens of that state.

The document regulates the provision of legal assistance in civil, family and criminal matters, jurisdiction of cases, as well as the procedure for sending requests for the collection of documents, evidence and court proceedings, recognition and enforcement of court decisions.
