AIIB considers Uzbekistan as its main partner in Central Asia
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) sees Uzbekistan as its main partner in Central Asia, the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov said.
“You said that you want Uzbekistan to become the bank’s main partner in Central Asia and outside the region. I’ll tell you more: we want AIIB to become our main partner among financial institutions. I am sure that this will happen very soon,” Umurzakov said during a business briefing with the participation of the AIIB President Jin Liqun.
“We have not yet started implementing our projects, but I am sure that we will achieve progress very quickly,” the minister added.
This year, AIIB and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the implementation of a complex of projects in the field of water supply, sanitation and road construction in the Bukhara region for a total amount of over $600 million.
