Uzbekistan to create educational cluster on the basis of MISiS
In Uzbekistan, it is planned to create an educational cluster on the basis of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) MISiS branch, which is located in Almalyk. This is provided for in the draft government decree developed by the Ministry of Higher Education.
It is planned to organize a secondary public school and a professional college to train specialists for the mining and metallurgical industry.
The school will be specialized in advanced studies of mathematics, physics, chemistry, information technology, linguistics, economics and foreign languages. It is planned to use the programs of leading international educational institutions in it, as well as introduce into the educational process the initial cycles of vocational training for students in the areas of robotics, software modeling and engineering programming.
Based on the individual abilities of pupils, mentors will be assigned to each of them, who will instill the skills of self-education and scientific-creative work. Another interesting point is the formation of students’ media culture skills, the basics of programming and information security.
The curriculum at the school will be designed for 11 years, but in the first year of study, enrollment will begin from 7th to 10th grade on the basis of a competition that will be organized by the MISiS Almalyk branch. Moreover, the maximum number of pupils in each class should not exceed 30 people.
It is expected that following the end of the academic year, pupils with low academic performance will be expelled by decision of the pedagogical council of the school and sent to educational institutions at their place of residence.
The college will train specialists in the areas of “Metallurgy of non-ferrous and rare metals”, “Metallurgy of ferrous metals”, “Foundry”, “Metal forming”, “Open cast mining”, “Underground mining”, “Mineral processing”, “Mine surveying”, “Automation and control of technological processes and production”, “Mining electromechanics”.
The AMMC will be engaged in the construction of buildings, landscaping the adjacent territories of the school, as well as the overhaul of the college buildings. All these works are planned to be completed before August 1, 2020.
