Uzbekistan will host the AFC U-19 Championship in 2020. On Tuesday, the AFC Competitions Committee decided to recommend the country as the host of the tournament.
It should be noted that the republic will host the continental tournament for the first time in this age category. In 2008 and 2010, Tashkent hosted the finals of the AFC U-16 Championship.
Youth Championship 2020 will be held from October 14 to October 31. The tournament will be attended by 16 teams. Semifinalists will qualify for the World Cup in 2021.
On September 16, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa. During the meeting, issues of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the AFC were considered.
The AFC head confirmed the organization’s commitment to expand full-scale partnership with Uzbekistan, as well as its readiness to jointly promote new programs and practical cooperation projects.
