Labor Ministry provides data on unemployment rate in Uzbekistan
On September 18, at an extended meeting of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the report of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the External Labor Migration Agency under the Ministry on the work carried out this year was heard.
As noted at the meeting, over the 8 months of this year around 213,000 new jobs were created. It is 122.8% more than the forecast (173,600).
The current unemployment rate in the country is 9.1%. This indicator is higher in regions, in particular, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (9.3%), Andijan (9.3%), Kashkadarya (9.4%), Jizzakh (9.3%), Samarkand (9.3%) and Fergana (9.4%).
This year, labor authorities rendered services to more than 526,000 people, which is 1.4 times higher than the same period last year.
Moreover, in the course of the meeting, information was received from the Director of the Agency for External Labor Migration on the work carried out in further improving the system of organized employment of our citizens abroad.
According to the Agency, 2.6 million people went abroad to earn money. Deputies noted that in regions, the available opportunities are still not fully used.
