CIS Council of Foreign Ministers adopt Programme of Actions to intensify partnership
CIS Council of Foreign Ministers started its meeting in a narrow format in Ashgabat, the Turkmenistan today reports.
The head of the Uzbekistan delegation Abdulaziz Kamilov exchanged views with his counterparts on the important aspects of international relations and interaction within the CIS.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on the adoption of the Programme of Actions to intensify partnership between the CIS foreign-policy agencies. This document is aimed at ensuring the most favorable conditions for the agreed activities on the international agenda.
According to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, Turkmenistan considers it important to strengthen the political and diplomatic cooperation through enhanced partnership between the CIS foreign-policy agencies and the creation of effective mechanisms for systematic, regular multilateral political consultations based on a medium-term programme of actions in this area.
One of the important directions for strengthening cooperation between the CIS foreign-policy agencies is the joint work on the formation of a positive international agenda. In this context, the significance of consultations with the aim to coordinate the positions of states in the UN General Assembly on priority issues was underlined.
One of them is the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Turkmenistan expressed willingness to discuss the practical implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals with all CIS countries in order to provide mutual support to each other in the implementation of initiatives put forward by the CIS states at the UN platform.
The documents that will be submitted to the CIS Council of the Heads of States for signing on October 11 were also agreed.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS countries were also invited to participate in the International Conference on Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, to be held in Turkmenistan on December 12, 2020, and to celebrate anniversary events on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Turkmen neutrality.
